Global Chairman, Christopher Fussner
Welcome to Republicans Abroad!
2010 Elections:
YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU
We are today 70 days from the November elections and Republicans Abroad worldwide are working hard to ensure that Americans overseas register to vote.... On Independence Day, celebrations were held by American communities overseas and Republicans Abroad were involved in organizing voter registration booths...
Today, in contrast to some years ago, assistance in voter registration is better served thanks to the many websites and information that is available on the INTERNET. We have tried to place on this website as many links and information on voting that is available, from States' websites to the Federal Voting Assistance Program. ...Voting, State Races, Senate Races, House Races, Voter Registration Deadlines, Links to the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) and State websites, Overseas Embassies.. We maintain a Facebook Page and we would like that each of you join us…The FVAP also has a Facebook Page. We also have a Twitter Account...
We have also links to candidates' websites and articles of interest on current events.
We hope you take the time to learn about Republicans Abroad. Wherever there is an American community overseas, there is a Republican Community.
Do not leave the website before visiting the Chapter news Page. You will see that we hold meetings on a regular basis. This past May we celebrated our Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. and met with many prominent Republican Leaders.
____________
About us?
Republicans Abroad is The “political” voice in Washington D.C., of Americans living overseas.
In May 2010, at our Annual Meeting, we were honored to have special guests: Grover Norquist, President, Americans for Tax reform; Dan Mitchell, CATO tax expert; Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN); RNC Co-Chairman Jan Larimer, Rep. Thaddeus Mc Cotter (R-MI); Rep. Michele Bachmann(R-MN); Rep. Steve King (R-IO)… And, described by many as “the best Annual Meeting ever,” it presented an opportunity to meet prominent Republican leaders in the Nation’s Capital as well as network with fellow Republicans Abroad!!
The Leadership Series will begin September 16th, at 9:00 AM ET (details to follow) with conservative star Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN). A great friend of Republicans Abroad, she will share her thoughts and ideas with us and we will have the opportunity to ask her direct questions. We hope you join us for the first of a series of conferences…
Republicans Abroad Radio features every week prominent leaders… members of congress… …members of Republicans Abroad and anyone who has a conservative message to disseminate, a story to tell…
____________

More...on Republicans Abroad...
Most of the valued assets of membership in Republicans Abroad are the relationships which have been built over the years, as a result of the extensive network. In these unique forums, prominent Republican leaders meet and brief members on developments in Congress on foreign policy, US Taxes and budgets.
Throughout the year, we also have Leadership series Conferences, which bring the chapter chairmen and members to participate in Q & A sessions, via teleconference, with Republican leaders. This year we had the honor to count with Gov. Haley Barbour R-MS and Grover Norquist, President of AmericaNS for tax reform
________________
And now, the LAW, as it is written...
In 1975, overseas civilians were included in the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), still in effect today. The Act gave them the right to vote in federal elections by casting their absentee ballots in the state where they last resided or voted in the United States. Since its establishment in 1978, RA, a volunteer organization, has more than 50 chapters worlwide. "In 2009, President Obama signed into law several pieces of legislation Sen John Cornyn, (R-TX), co-sponsored to improve voting for service members overseas. Central provisions of Sen. Cornyn's Military Voting Protection Act (MVP Act) and his Military Voters' Equal Access to Registration Act (MVEAR Act) are included in a comprehensive military voting reform bill and all part of the FY10 National Defense Authorization Act. Sen. Cornyn successfully inserted major provisions of his bills into the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (MOVE Act), ensuring that overseas troops are provided expedited delivery of their completed ballots, and that they and their families have unfettered access to voter assistance on military bases under a program modeled after the well-known "motor voter" prograM..."
The primary mission of Republicans Abroad is to integrate Americans, especially those who adhere to the principles of the Republican Party, into the election process. Republicans Abroad strives to reach the estimated 4-6 million voters overseas. In past elections, Republicans Abroad has helped deliver crucial votes to Republican candidates facing close elections on the federal, state and local levels.
The country chapter is the basic building block of Republicans Abroad and every country committee belongs to one of the following four regions—Europe, Western Hemisphere, Asia/Pacific or Middle East/Africa.
“Getting the vote out” during election years, is the principal mandate of Republicans Abroad and its most important function. For many years, some Americans outside the US were not aware that they could be eligible to vote, nor did they know how to register. The 50 Republicans Abroad Chapters have, since 1978, voluntarily assisted overseas Americans to register and vote.
One of the fundamental methods employed for “getting out the vote” is through print and internet advertising! Republicans Abroad has, through the years, promoted our Party's principles in international media.
"After living overseas for over 25 years, Republicans Abroad is my political home." Christopher Fussner, Global Chairman
